Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh
It is wrong to say that women who are educated and talented are a threat to marriage. The source of this misconception is the ‘secular’ notion of considering man and woman as if they were rivals.
It is contrary to the Quranic vision of tawhid. Thus Islam, instead of pitting men and women as rivals, treats them as a unity. The Qur’an emphatically states that both men and women are created of a single essence or soul; therefore, they are partners and protecting friends of one another.
The Prophet’s marriage with Khadijah should illustrate the above point. Khadijah was an entrepreneur and one of the wealthiest persons in Makkah; she married the Prophet even though he was poor; she supported the Prophet wholeheartedly – sacrificing everything for the cause of Islam, braving all odds.
Muslims are to look up to Khadijah as the mother of the faithful and an ideal marriage partner.
In conclusion, education and talent do not prove an obstacle; instead, it should make a woman confident and assertive, and as such, she can build a stable marriage with a man who is righteous and God-fearing.
Almighty Allah knows best.
