Wa `alaykum as-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Mercy-Giving.

All praise is due to Allah. Peace and blessings be upon His Prophet Muhammad.

Islam exhorts its followers to seek knowledge and to equip themselves with the required skills to serve their religion and community in different fields. A Muslim woman is not an exception in this regard as long as she observes Islamic teachings regarding her dress and conduct.

Education is important in modern times. Even if a woman plans to be a housewife, still she needs to pursue her education. Education will help her better raise her children and run her house affairs. Besides, future is unpredictable and under some circumstances such a woman may be forced to look for a job.

If a Muslim woman observes Islamic teachings and fulfills her religious, marital, and familial duties, there is nothing in the Shari`ah that prevents her from being a successful doctor, scientist, teacher, programmer, etc. On the contrary, a Muslim community needs educated and skilled women in different fields; particularly, where such women should deal with their fellow women.

Almighty Allah knows best.
