Halal and haram

I want to know is that squirrel and chipmunk are halal to eat

There is a difference of opinion among scholars whether squirrels and chipmunk are halal to be eaten or not. Those who deem them haram to be eaten consider them analogous to rats, whereas those who deem them halal consider them analogous to jerboa. A number of eminent jurists give preference to the opinion that deems them halal. Still, to be on the safe side, one should abstain from eating them as long as there is another alternative.
