A powerful 7.3-magnitude earthquake rocked the northern border region between Iran and Iraq earlier this week, killing more than 500 people and injuring thousands more.
- Over 500 have already died with the figure rising.
- Over 6,000 injured and maimed.
- 70,000 made homeless and in need of shelter and aid.
- Rescuers battle to find survivors trapped under collapsed buildings.
Many people are trapped and in desperate need of rescue. Bodies lie buried underneath rubble and families are torn apart.

Red Crescent volunteers in northern Iraq and Iran are providing urgent search and rescue and first aid to victims of the devastating 7.3 magnitude earthquake that shook the region earlier this week.
Our local partner in Iraq has already sent IHP medicines to a hospital dealing with the casualties but says,
“We have to start sending medicines to up to 30 clinics, international medical teams and hospitals. The need is HUGE, we need more medicines ASAP”
