“This may seem like just sentences for you. But for women who choose the hijab not just as a garment covering their head, but as a way of life, that means everything. Each hijab has a story behind it embracing the hijab. And as rational and kind human beings, we have to stand by our hijabi companions. We need to support them, end stigma, stop seeing it as oppressive and start thinking of it as a choice. My hijab means standing up for my choices. Exhibit my appreciation for humility. It's not an accessory, it defines how I see myself. . And for us, hijabis, we have to stand by our friends who choose not to, stop shaming others for not wearing them or wearing them in a certain way. Let's learn to appreciate the diversity of choices. . To all my sisters. Eliminate your doubts about the hijab. Show your solidarity with us. Let's unite to appreciate the choices women make.”-Futaim Mohammed, Senegal . . . 👉Please take a selfie holding a sign with the hashtag #FreeInHijab. “I was not born into a Muslim family so when I first started to wear it, I didn’t know exactly how to wear it. When I first walked outside wearing hijab and my neighbours saw me at that moment I’ve never Felt more free. It was new to all my friends they knew I was Muslim but never really thought I’d wear a headscarf, I did have some negative feedback and I was okay with it. It made me embrace wearing the hijab even more.”-Keiara Dixon, USA . Please take a selfie holding a sign with the hashtag #FreeInHijab. In caption, tell us how you are free in hijab. .
