Repentance & Forgiveness: Why Still Feeling Embarrassed?

10 March, 2024
Q How do I overcome feelings of excruciating embarrassment after repenting from sin?

Answer

During these special days, most of us turn to Allah with repentance hoping His mercy and forgiveness. What if you can’t get rid of feeling shame?

In this counseling answer, Aisha Mohammed advises focusing on the ultimate forgiveness of Allah instead of the expectations and judgment of people around you.

No matter whether others are aware of what you have done or not; even whether they are able to forgive you or not.

In the end, we are only accountable for our deeds to Allah, the Almighty.

When you sincerely repent a sin and ask forgiveness from Allah knowing that He is The Most Forgiving and He loves to forgive, there is no need to keep feeling embarrassment for whatever happened. Just let it go.“Let Allah cover it for you.”
