Abortion: Will Allah Forgive Me?

25 July, 2024
Q I did an abortion many years ago. Back then I didn't know that it is similar as murder. I didn't think it of being a sin. Now I have got to know that it is similar to murder. Will Allah forgive me for my sins if I repent? This is haunting me really very badly

Answer

You did not know that abortion is similar to murder. You committed a sin out of ignorance. Since you realized it, it has haunted you very badly, and you are not sure that you will be forgiven.

Allah says in the Quran that He is All-Forgiving, so you need to believe that.

After sincere repentance, all you can do is trust in Him and move on. There is no need to carry this heavy burden, as these feelings may prevent you from living your life in contentment with your deen.

Learn more about the deen to avoid finding yourself in similar situation in the future.

What else can I do? Check out the answer here.
