Q Can I make more than one Umrah per trip to Makkah?

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. 

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

In this fatwa:

  • The general ruling on this matter is that you should perform only one Umrah per trip to Makkah. This was the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions. Some schools of fiqh severely dislike performing more than one Umrah per trip.
  • There are exceptions where a person fears where they may never come back ever again and they want to perform an Umrah on behalf of a deceased relative, then in that situation the concession can be made.
