Can a Shower Count for Wudu’?

03 July, 2017
Q As-salamu Alaikum. After a long day, taking a shower is always the best way to refresh oneself. However, does that count for wudu' too? Or does wudu' have to be performed separately?

Answer

Wa `alaykum as-salamu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

In this Fatwa:

If the ghusl or the shower was to become pure because of janabah or menstruation, then as long as you have the intention for wudu’, you will actually achieve wudu’ and you do not need to do the actions of wudu’.
