Am I allowed to own a dog for therapeutic purposes or to help with my disability?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
1- Scholars made exception to the cases of keeping dogs. We can raise dogs for hunting and guarding. We can also train dogs for herding.
2- If those scholars expanded permission to that, then permission would be expanded towards having a dog to help with a disability.
