Majority of the scholars believe that alcohol is haram and they say it is impure. Drinking it in small or large quantity is absolutely haram. But can we use alcohol to clean our hands in the form of gels, wipes and sanitizers?

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
1- Every impure substance is haram but not every haram substance is impure. For example poison is haram to ingest, but it is not physically impure.
2- There is nothing wrong with applying alcohol sanitizers to any part of our body to protect us from the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
