A common teaching that has surfaced in the community is that women are cursed if they divorce their husband. Yet the husband has nothing held against him if he chooses to divorce. Is this true?

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
Women are not cursed if they ask for a divorce unless they are asking for the wrong reasons. The same rule applies to men. If a man marries a woman and the marriage causes harm upon the woman, then this is also a sin.
