Listening to Quran while studying!

Wa `alaykum As-Salamu waRahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Mercy-Giving.

All praise is due to Allah. Peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Allah the Almighty said in the Qur’an what means, “So when the Qur’an is recited, listen to it, [O humanity,] and give heed, so that you may be shown mercy.” (Al-A`raf 7:204)

For this Quranic injunction, one should not be busy while listening to the Qur’an so as not to distract one’ attention from concentrating on the recitation.

Still if one can listen while doing something that does not need much concentration, there is nothing wrong with that.

If one, however, is completely inattentive to the Qur’an and is mainly focusing on something else, he should stop the Quranic recitation as it is not proper to show indifference to the Qur’an.

Almighty Allah knows best.
