All praise is due to Allah. Peace and blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad.

 

As long as you had a serious intention to divorce your wife and expressed this intention in a written form, the divorce becomes as effective as if you had expressed it in an oral form. The wife thus becomes divorced from the time you typed it and you have to let her know of this development to observe her waiting period.

 

Of course, if the divorce is revocable, you can take her back during the waiting period.

 

Written divorce is ineffective only if there is no serious intention behind it.
