I ask myself this question every time. Scientists say that dancing is good for our health. But, I thought it may be haram to dance. So, is dancing haram?

In responding to your question, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and an Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states:
There is nothing wrong if you dance alone or with members of your sex. The Prophet (peace be upon him) allowed the Abyssinians who visited his mosque to dance in the mosque.
Dancing with the members of the opposite sex is forbidden because of the simple reason it may arouse lustful thoughts.
