We often have to leave for the airport many hours before our flight. Can we join prayers when we are at the airport before departing?

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
Islamically, airports take the rule of being outside the city, regardless of their location. At the airport everyone knows you are a traveler. If you are at the airport, you take the rules of a traveler and it is allowed for you to join prayers.
