This is a common question many of us have when a loved one passes away. Can the dead hear us visit their grave?

Before his final illness he chose to make two last trips. He went to the graves of the martys of Uhud and seek forgiveness for them. This gives us an insight to how often we should visit out loved ones and how often we should make dua for them.

We know that the Prophet (pbuh) has angels roaming the earth and they convey our salaams upon the Prophet to him. When we visit the graves we say “Assalamu alaykum oh inhabitants of the grave from the believers and the Muslims and we are soon to follow, you are the forerunners”. They have preceded us and we are soon to follow. We ask Allah for forgiveness for us and them.
