Q
Our deen encourages us to get married. Marriage is said to be half of one’s deen. Nowadays, there are a handful of people out there who find it difficult to find a spouse. If a person does not get married, are they lacking half of their deen?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
- Marriage is half your faith (iman), not deen (religion).
- There are a lot of exercises of faith in having a family and being married facilitates, such as patience, care, and responsibility.
- However, you do not lack half your faith if you do not end up getting married.
