How can a menstruating woman perform istikharah prayer?

She cannot, but she may still perform the dua of istikharah without performing the prayer first. Or, she can wait until her period ends.

Assalamu alaikum. In Islamic extremist group women have restricted access to education & health care. Has this practice any basis?

Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

No, there is no basis in Islam for purposely restricting education or healthcare for women. In fact, the Prophet and his Companions encouraged both of these.

As-salamu alaykum As i go to college and i have to offer prayer there. So my question is that if I do wahu from home and a na mehram such as driver, sir(teacher male) see my face will my wadhu will be invalidate and my hair is fully covered. And is it jaiz to offer prayer in an open area which is covered from top but has three wall?

Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

Wudu does not break by a person looking at you, even if he were to see you without your hijab on.

It is allowed to offer prayer in any normal open area as long as it is clean and safe.

Assalamu alaikum. I wonder, will Allah asks us to express our wishes once we are admitted to Jannah? And will people from different levels will be asked to express their wishes to Allah? Like for example, if I will be in Jannatul And, will Allah ask me to express me wishes? If I only perform 5 daily prayers regulate, then will I be admitted through Baabul Salat? And in what level of Jannah will I be admitted for performing my 5 daily prayers? Just in curiosity

Once a person enters Paradise, and inshallah we will, they can ask Allah for anything they want. Keep in mind that Paradise will be such an amazing place that we will probably not ask for the things that we think we will want now. Since we have not seen Paradise, sometimes we think that we hope there will be rainbows, chocolate, fancy cars, etc. However, that is only because of the luxuries we experience in this world.

In Paradise, the things we are given will be so amazing that we may not care about the other things that we loved in this world so much, since they do not compare.

As for how a person will enter Paradise, this is up to Allah. We must strive to be the best Muslims possible by fulfilling and exceeding all expectations.

If unmarried women is pregnant, is punishment of 80 lashes applicable immediately or after birth of child?

The punishment penalties that Islam has prescribed are only carried out by a legitimate Muslim State. If a Muslim commits one of the sins that requires a punishment, it will not be carried out if they do not live in a land where there is a legitimate Muslim khalifah who will carry out such punishments.

Furthermore, if someone commits a sin and it has not reached the legitimate Muslim government officials, it is not a responsibility for Muslims to turn themselves in for punishment.

Therefore, if an unmarried woman is pregnant, she should keep the sin to herself, ask Allah for forgiveness, and there will be no physical punishment for her, unless this news has reached a legitimate Muslim khalifah, or his deputies.

Therefore, there is no need to focus on a hypothetical question since you are most likely not in a situation where any punishment will be enacted. What I have explained is based on the Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet.

Is physical intimacy, intercourse & related activities are something that men should enjoy but women should fear? What does Islam tell about it?

Islam is a religion which encourages sex within marriage. This protects people from engaging in illicit relationships.

Islam teaches that both partners should try to enjoy the pleasure of sexual intercourse and foreplay, since this is something that Allah has created within humans for procreation, as well as enjoyment.

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmathullah,I'm working in a city which is far away from my village. Once in every two months I go to my village to see my parents. It's an overnight journey for me to go to my village from my workplace. I used to take a bus for my travel. It's the only feasible option for me. But whenever I visit my village I miss Fajr salah because I'll be in bus. So I make up for it when I reach my home. I am worried that whenever I go to my home I miss Fajr. Is there any provision to pray inside the bus without Wudhu/ Ablution? Jazakallah

Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

The situation you describe is somewhat similar to traveling on an airplane. You should try to make wudu before boarding the bus. If there is a bathroom on the bus, then make wudu on the bus.

Usually the time for Fajr is about an hour or more. If the bus stops for a moment, get off and pray during the stop. Keep your wudu ready so you don’t run out of time.

If the bus does not stop, and you have wudu, you can pray on the bus in your seat. If you can stand, you should. If not, sit and perform the prayer by bowing slightly for ruku` and bowing more for prostration.

Since your bus will keep moving in different directions, you do not need to face the qiblah [direction of Makkah]. This prayer will be valid on the bus, due to your exceptional circumstances, and you do not need to make up the prayer after arriving at your village.

Is frigidity ideal characteristic of women? Are frigid women ideal women? Can women make dua so that she remains frigid all times? What does Islam tell about it?

Frigidity means that a woman does not like or want to have sexual intercourse, or is not interested in it. This is not an ideal characteristic of women in Islam. A woman should not make dua that she remains frigid.

Islam is a religion which encourages sex within marriage. This protects people from engaging in illicit relationships. Islam teaches that both partners should try to enjoy the pleasure of sexual intercourse and foreplay, since this is something that Allah has created within humans for procreation, as well as enjoyment.

Assalamualaikum Dear Sheikh, I am from Bangladesh. Here most of us follow Hanafi Madhab. My Question is most of us use toilet paper and then water to purify ourselves from urine and toilet. But there are few Ahle hadith followers who are saying it is bidat as As per sunnah only water would be sufficient. Using toilet paper is unnecessary. But from my personal experience i have seen only water can't be purify as toilet paper soak the urine that doesn't come out by its own. Or if anyone donot use toilet paper can only be water purify or if a drop of urine comes out is it negligible or ignored? What is the actual shariah system to purify after urinating and toiet? Plz guide us. Thanks in advance.Regards,

Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

It is absolutely necessary for Muslims to clean themselves after using the toilet. This can be done with either water, a solid object like toilet paper, or both.

During the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Companions would either clean themselves with water or stones [since there was no toilet paper].

The purpose behind using these is to make the area as clean as possible.

If using both causes it to be more clean, then it is recommended to use both. Perhaps these Muslims are concerned that some people think it is a requirement to use both, or that the Prophet and the Companions used both.

As long as you do not believe that it is a requirement then it is not bid`ah. Perhaps they did not use both due to scarcity of resources, or perhaps they did combine both but we do not have a report that clearly states that they did.

Either way, this should not be something that is made into an issue which will divide the Muslim community and cause them to disagree. Whatever cleans the area better is fine to use.

As-salamu `alayikum, I have a question regarding divorce in Islam. I’ve been married almost 2 years to a man who lives abroad. I live in Belgium and he lives in Canada. We’ve been living apart since the beginning of our marriage. We speak almost everyday on the phone and we see each other every 6 months. We made plans to live together soon. However, recently during extreme rage my husband divorced me on the phone. I was in my menstruation period so I was in a very emotional state during our conversation. My husband started screaming and yelling on the phone, after that he pronounced divorce. Days after that, when he calmed down, he regretted it. My question is: Is the divorce valid according to the Shari`ah? Thanks in advance for your reply. Jazak Allah khayran.

Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

I’m sorry to hear what happened. Your husband’s pronouncement of one divorce statement over the phone counts, even though it was prohibited for him to say this during your period. However, this only counts as one pronouncement of divorce. Your husband may retract this divorce by saying “I retract my divorce” as long as it is done before you have completed three menstrual cycles [about three months from the time of pronouncement].

Once he has retracted, you both remain married as normal. If he pronounces divorce like this again, he may retract once more. After that, there is no retraction after the third pronouncement of divorce, and the two of you must be fully divorced and separated. Allah says, “Divorce is twice…” (Al-Baqarah 2:2290
