These Muslim Schools Are Among the Best in UK

Eight Muslim faith schools have been recognized among the top 20 schools in Britain for academic progress in 2019, in the published GCSE league tables for 2019.

Topping the list was Tauheedul Islam Girlsโ€™ High School in the northern town of Blackburn, followed by Eden Boyโ€™s school in Birmingham and the Eden Girlโ€™s School in neighboring Coventry.

Other Muslim schools on the list were Preston Muslim Girlsโ€™ High School, Eden Girlsโ€™ School in Waltham Forest, Eden Girlsโ€™ School in Slough, Bolton Muslim Girlsโ€™ School and Al-Hijrah School in Birmingham.

The list collated every year by the government ranks schools across the country on measures including academic attainment and the percentage of students who stay on for further education.

Tauheedul Islam Girlsโ€™ High School (TIGHS)

โ€ขโ€˜Progress 8โ€™ Score of +2.17 โ€“ the highest value added score in the country.

โ€ขโ€˜Attainment 8โ€™ score of 7.0 โ€“ one of the highest scores in the country.

โ€ข83% of students achieved a โ€˜strong passโ€™ in English and Maths โ€“ one of the highest amongst non-selective schools.  93% achieved a โ€˜standard passโ€™ in English and Maths.

โ€ข65% achieved the English Baccalaureate, around 45 percentage points higher than the national average. The average grade in English Baccalaureate subjects was 6.6.

โ€ขOne of the best schools in the country for results by students from disadvantaged backgrounds and with low prior achievement from primary school.

โ€ข82% of students from disadvantaged backgrounds achieved a โ€˜strong passโ€™ in English and Maths. Nationally, around a quarter of students achieve this.

โ€ข50% of students with low prior achievement achieved a โ€˜standard passโ€™ in English and Maths. Around one in ten such pupils achieve this nationally.

Eden Boyโ€™s school in Birmingham

โ€ขThe school achieved โ€˜Progress 8โ€™ Score of +1.7 โ€“ the second highest value-added score in Britain.

โ€ขGovernment statistics showed that 86% of students at the school achieved a โ€˜strong passโ€™ in English and Maths โ€“ one of the highest amongst non-selective schools, while 98% achieved a โ€˜standard passโ€™ in English and Maths.

โ€ขThe school achieved exceptional first set of GCSE results since opening in 2015.

Eden Girlโ€™s School in Coventry

โ€ขThe school came as the top performing schools in Coventry and Warwickshire, according to GCSE results, released by the Department for Education.

โ€ขThe school โ€“ which has an Outstanding Ofsted rating โ€“ has achieved the third highest score for academic progress in Britain in GCSE performance tables, with a Progress 8 Score of +1.61, which is well above average.โ€

โ€ขThe school has achieved a โ€˜Progress 8โ€™ Score of 1.23 โ€“ one of the highest value-added scores in the country

โ€ขThe school is currently tenth out of 6,489 schools and colleges, including academies and selective schools

โ€ข82.1% of students achieved a pass in English and Maths

โ€ข81% were entered for the English Baccalaureate compared to the national average of 36.5%

โ€ขEden Girlsโ€™ School, Slough achieves โ€˜Progress 8โ€™ Score of +1.19 โ€“ one of the highest value-added scores in the country.

โ€ข67% of students achieved a โ€˜strong passโ€™ in English and Maths โ€“ one of the highest amongst non-selective schools. 86% achieved a โ€˜standard passโ€™ in English and Maths.

โ€ขExceptional first set of GCSE results since opening in 2015.
