LONDON – An American school teacher from Illinois has been wearing a hijab since President Trump announced the travel ban at the end of January.
In this BBC Radio clip, Lori Szeszycki tells James Menendez that she wants to show solidarity with those affected by the Executive Order, dubbed as Muslim ban.
Last March 6, Trump signed a revised executive order banning citizens from six Muslim-majority nations from traveling to the United States but removing Iraq from the list, after his controversial first attempt was blocked in the courts.
The new order, which the White House said Trump had signed, keeps a 90-day ban on travel to the United States by citizens of Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
The new executive order, like the old one, sparked criticism on a large scale for targeting Muslims.
