Forgiveness is more than an act of kindness to others, it’s an indication of a strong soul and a pure heart. Allah calls us to forgive those who hurt us no matter what.
Pardoning people is one of the three acts that Allah praises in the Quran.
Allah mentions His forgiveness around 200 times! This is a massive amount compared for example with men who are mentioned 23 times and women are mentioned 23 times. But forgiveness as well as Allah’s name Al Ghafour is mentioned around 200 times.
It’s amazing!
Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people – and Allah loves the doers of good. (Quran 3:134)
Allah lists the criteria of forgiveness. What Allah links forgiveness with:
1- Spending charity
2- Restraining anger
3- Pardoning people
Forgiveness is a sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would encourage us to make seventy excuses if we thought somebody was doing something wrong.
Allah asks us to forgive. And at the end of the verse, Allah says that He loves the good doers. The criteria that Allah mentioned are linked in with people who do good.
If you’re able to do that, then that’s amazing!
