Exemplifying the transformative power of faith, determination, and the pursuit of knowledge, Liliana Mohammed, a 62-year-old Bulgarian woman, has recently accomplished a significant milestone by graduating from a Qur’anic school in Kano state, Nigeria.
Liliana came to Kano nearly three decades ago after marrying the late Hausa businessman, Ibrahim Sambo, in Bulgaria.

She started learning the Qur’an after converting to Islam a decade ago, recalling her humble beginnings with private lessons at home under the guidance of her teacher, Malama Hafsa, Daily Nigerian reported.
“I started from private lessons, considering my age. A Quranic teacher, Malama Hafsa, was coming to teach me. We started from the scratch, with transliteration until I began to learn with Arabic alphabets,” she said.
“She continued to teach me how to recite the Quran using the Arabic alphabets until I could read it myself.
“From there, we continued from verse to verse, chapter to chapter until this day when I graduated,” she added.

Liliana’s journey to this achievement is a testament to her dedication and commitment to learning and embracing Islam.
“Islam has given me peace. The glorious Quran is also my guide. As I read Quran, it also reads me. I feel peace in my mind,” she said.
The Qur’an is a revelation from God, the Creator of the worlds, so He is the original author.
Memorizing the Holy Qur’an is one of the most important ways to preserve Allah’s message.
