Pilgrim Gives Birth in Makkah Grand Mosque Courtyard

  • Both mum and the newborn were immediately transferred to Ajyad General Hospital

A woman gave birth to a bouncing baby in the courtyards of the Grand Mosque in Makkah after she went into sudden labor on Monday morning.

The Sudanese pilgrim, whose name wasn’t identified, was suffering from abdominal pain in the western yard of the Grand Mosque next to the Al-Tawhid Hotel, Saudi Gazette reported.

The director of the Red Crescent branch in Makkah, Dr. Mustafa Baljoun said the medical team discovered that the woman’s contractions had started, and the delivery of the baby had begun.

Successfully delivering the baby, the mum and the newborn were immediately transferred to Ajyad General Hospital. Both of them are in good health.

Dr. Baljoun urged the public to call 997, utilize the “Help Me” application, or issue a distress call through the “Tawakkalna” application to request an ambulance in case of an emergency.
