When Ummah Hurts: AboutIslam Unveils Inspiring Ramadan Talk Show

During this holy month, AboutIslam.net is set to present a special Ramadan talk show titled:

“Ramadan: When the Ummah Hurts – Deepening Our Sense of Belonging.”

Bringing together a constellation of scholars, thinkers, and spiritual mentors, this series explores how Ramadan can transform pain into purpose, emotion into action, and devotion into service.

Among the distinguished voices joining this initiative is Sister Ameena Blake, a distinguished UK-based educator, speaker, and community leader, who will guide us through the delicate balance of serving without losing ourselves — helping us understand our capacity, our limits, and our unique lane of responsibility within the broader Ummah.

Sheikh Nuruddeen Lemu, director of Dawah Institute of Nigeria and assistant secretary of Islamic Education Trust, will enlighten us on what Ramadan stands for and how it helps the Ummah navigate this turbulent time— as it disciplines the soul not for withdrawal from the world, but for meaningful engagement with it.

Eaman Attia, Muslim American Society National Tarbiyyah Director, invites us to reflect on profound lessons from people who observe fasting amid suffering — reminding us that resilience, dignity, and unwavering faith often shine brightest in the most difficult conditions.

Sr Haleh Banani, a prominent clinical psychologist and faith-based counselor, challenges us to move beyond emotional reactions toward intentional, structured action.

Br Mohannad Hakim, a US-based educator, activist and author, will take us deeper into the spiritual core of Ramadan, exploring how Qur’anic guidance anchors us during turbulent times and provides clarity when confusion surrounds us.

And Br Jasser Auda, a Canadian scholar and professor specializing in Islamic law (Sharia) and its higher objectives, will address two powerful dimensions of our Ramadan journey: understanding duʿa as responsibility rather than escapism, and reconnecting with the Qur’an, not merely as a book of comfort, but as a guide for navigating crises and living through collective trials with wisdom.

Together, these voices form more than a series of talks. They form a roadmap for a Ramadan that strengthens both our relationship with Allah and our responsibility toward His creation.

This Ramadan, we invite you to journey with us:
To reflect more deeply.
To serve more wisely.
To belong more consciously.

Because when the Ummah hurts, Ramadan becomes not only a season of worship;

It is also a season of awakening.
