Justice Finally
Reaction continues to flood on social media from all people.
In an online statement, US President Joe Biden said Ahmaud’s brutal killing was “a devastating reminder of how far we have to go in the fight for racial justice” but the guilty verdict “ensures that those who committed this horrible crime will be punished.”
Vice President Kamala Harris also released a statement praising the guilty verdict in the Ahmaud Arbery trial, echoing sentiments from President Joe Biden.
“These verdicts send an important message, but the fact remains that we still have work to do,” Harris said.
The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) also wrote, “We welcome the guilty verdicts in the #AhmaudArbery trial, and we commend the Arbery family for the perseverance they have shown since his murder. May Allah grant justice to the many other victims of racist crimes whose killers never faced trial.”
The official Black Lives Matter Twitter page has responded to the guilty verdict in the Ahmaud Arbery case, expressing thanks to activists across the country.
“We uplift the Spirit of #AhmaudArbery and send love to his family,” the movement tweeted. “Deep appreciation to all who organized, protested, ran, posted, and prayed.”
“Every effort ushered in as much justice as could be had. May this victory inspire the continued struggle for Black freedom,” the tweet continued.
