LONDON – A video showing alleged incident in which YouTube American Muslim star Adam Saleh was kicked off a plane for speaking Arabic has sparked anger on social media, with many vowing to boycott Delta Airlines, which was accused of being ‘racist’.
“I don’t like speaking on things like this but this struck a nerve,” French Montana, an American pop-star wrote on Instagram.
“I have a mother that doesn’t speak English and discrimination like this make me really sad. The fact that this can happen to her makes me sick. I’m NOT using delta anymore,” French, who immigrated from Morocco when he was 13, added.
The incident came to public on Wednesday morning when Saleh recorded a video of him and his friend Slim Albaher being escorted off a Delta flight from London to New York.
In the footage, Saleh claims they were being removed from the plane because other passengers complained he was speaking Arabic.
The YouTube star shared the video on social media, which resulted in a wave of backlash against Delta.
We got kicked out of a @Delta airplane because I spoke Arabic to my mom on the phone and with my friend slim… WTFFFFFFFF please spread pic.twitter.com/P5dQCE0qos

People have accused the airline of discriminating against the men for simply speaking a foreign language, and many, like French, have called for a boycott of Delta.
Amid rising anger on social media, representatives of Delta claimed Saleh and Albaher were removed from the flight after “more than 20 customers” expressed their discomfort.
In a statement issued Wednesday evening, the airline called Saleh “a known prankster” who “sought to violate” the “safety and comfort of our passengers and employees.”
Many tweets referenced Constitutional rights to free speech, and the clear violation of such if Delta did indeed remove Saleh simply for speaking in Arabic.
How are you going to kick someone off a Plane for speaking Arabic? Makes me sick man. Constitutional rights were violated! #BoycottDelta

Arabic is one of the six most-spoken languages in the world. Violating a basic human right isn’t justified. Speak up. #BoycottDelta

Several tweeters also brought up the case of Dr. Tamika Cross, who in October reported that when she offered her medical expertise on a Delta flight, she was refused because of assumptions made based on her gender and racial identity.
& let’s not forget in Oct. @Delta told a black doctor we are looking for “actual physicians” when a man became ill on a flight #boycottDelta
