Muslims Mourn Popular Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Alshareef

His sudden death has sent shock waves through the circle of world Muslims

Shaykh Muhammad Alshareef, the founder and president of AlMaghrib Institute, has died at the age of 47, according to a statement signed by his family and friends.

The statement said Shaykh Muhammad, who was healthy with no illness, suddenly passed away on Thursday night.

Shaykh Muhammad’s sudden death has sent shock waves through the circle of world Muslims, as they appreciated the deceased’s works and efforts for dawah.

“He taught us the power of Dua, and to always rely on Allah. He raised a nation of Dua makers in all of us,” the statement by the family added.

“So today, we ask Allah to make us all a hujjah for him in the Akhirah, for everything he taught us to be counted in his scale of good deeds with him, and that Allah beautifies his reception, forgive him his sins, and enter him into Al-Firdaws.”

In expressing his sadness, American Muslim Yasir Qadhi says on Twitter: “I am at a loss for words”.

Imam Suhaib Webb also shared a prayer for the deceased on Twitter.

Born in 1975 and raised in Canada, Shaykh Muhammad Alshareef memorized the Quran and later obtained Islamic Law degree from the Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia in 1999.

Through the AlMaghrib Institute, he taught university-level seminars on Islam and conducted seminars across the USA and Canada, as well as in Australia.
