Safiya told incoming Grade 9 students, urging them to approach high school as a time of growth and exploration.
Her words captured not only the secret behind her stellar performance but also the attitude that shaped her entire high school journey.
Now headed to the University of Toronto to study Engineering, Safiya’s path reflects a balance of ambition and joy.
Her Muslim identity, quiet confidence, and openness to experience serve as an inspiring model for young students navigating the challenges of high school and beyond.
The TDSB also honored three other outstanding scholars: Andrew Peng, Sheena Qin, and Sowmya Ramanan, all from Bloor Collegiate Institute.
Together, these four students represent the diverse talent and dedication thriving in Toronto’s public schools.
