WASHINGTON – A heartwarming video was shared on YouTube Wednesday showing a Muslim man giving $50 to people shopping for Thanksgiving, attached to a card with a quote from Prophet Muhammad.
“Thanksgiving is such an amazing time of the year and one that is all about giving back to the community and being grateful for what you have,” the description of the video, shared by Mustafa Hussain channel, read.
“We hope this video inspires you to go out and try to make someone’s day better!”
The video shows a young man giving the note to people before disappearing into the crowd.
The note has a quote from Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that reads, “Exchange gifts, it will increase your love for one another. – Prophet Muhammed.”
With many videos about Thanksgiving preparations, dishes and so on, this feel-good video offered a positive way for people to “give back to the community.”
“We incorporated Muslims into this because there is so much negativity and hate in the world and we want to promote Muslim culture and eliminate any negative stereotypes about Muslims,” the video description read.
“Pay it forward videos are the best and many people search for videos that cover topics like pay it forward… We want people to enjoy this Feel-Good video and to inspire them to pursue other random acts of kindness,” it added.
Thanksgiving is a celebration observed on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and the second Monday of October in Canada. The celebration is about giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year.
Though it started as a Christian tradition, the current form of celebration is a cultural holiday observed by all people of all faiths.
