Have you ever talked to a Muslim about Islam? Have you ever visited a Mosque? Do you have a Muslim friend who you can ask any question about Islam?
If your answer is ‘No’ to any of the above, then Saturday’s upcoming event by the Austin Network for Islamic Studies (ANIS) is for you.
ANIS, an Islamic school in Austin, is offering a free “Introduction to Islam” class, to be held on September 24, for community members to learn about Islam.

“We believe building bridges of understanding between communities starts with knowledge and compassion. We invite you to learn about Islam from your Muslim Neighbors,” the event on Facebook read.
“This event is an educational and informational session only. This event is not a debate session, nor a conversion session, nor a faith comparison session, nor a political session.
“We will share with you our beliefs, as Muslims on God, the prophets, Jesus, Mary, women, sharia, jihad, atheism, LGBTQA, and answer the questions you may have.”
The fee Islam 101 classes will take place at the Islamic Center of Brushy Creek.
“It’s an educational class – so you may agree with our views, or you may disagree with us. We are OK either way. That is your business,” the event read.
“You will get the opportunity to understand Islam from your Muslim Neighbors! You will get a good view of these subjects and others from your Muslim neighbors.”
Earlier this year, the Islamic Association of North Texas invited neighbors of all backgrounds to come to create community alliances between Muslim Americans and their neighbors.
