Mohammed Hashim is a well-known labour and community organizer from Toronto. He has just been appointed as the Executive Director of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation.
The appointment is for a five year term and begins on 13th October 2020. The Minister of Canadian Heritage, Steven Guilbeault, made the announcement on 6th October 2020 as reported by IQRA.CA.
“I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Hashim as Executive Director of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation,” says Minister Guilbeault. ”Mohammed’s knowledge, experience and expertise will allow him to lead the foundation in its fight against racism in Canadian society and its pursuit of equity, fairness, social justice and systemic change. His demonstrated commitment and dedication to inclusion and community empowerment makes him highly qualified for this position.”
Who is Mohammed Hassim?
Mohammed Hassim is the senior organizer for TYR Labour Council. He is also a board member of Urban Alliance and United Way Greater Toronto. He is the co-founder of Muslim Youth Fellowship as well as the founding advisor of Progress Toronto and Canadian Anti-hate Network.
