Muslims Love Jesus

Billboard Answers Questions About Jesus Prophethood

What do Muslims think of Jesus? A prominent US Muslim group has launched a new billboard campaign in Texas to educate people on how Muslims regard Jesus (peace be upon him).

One of the billboards, put up by Islamic non-profit GainPeace, stands in the Greater Houston area with the message “Muslims Love Jesus” accompanied by “his message of one God and his prophethood” and a phone number to call with any questions.

“Islam is often a misunderstood religion, leading some to hold bias view of Islam with discrimination and suspicion of Muslims,” said Dr. Sabeel Ahmed, Director of GainPeace, Beaumont Enterprise reported.

Jesus in Islam

Muslims believe in Jesus as one of the great Prophets of God and that he was born miraculously, conceived with no father, to his mother, Mary, but not that he was the Son of God.

While Muslims regard Jesus as a holy prophet, most do not celebrate his birthday, a date historians note could not have been in December at all.

Jesus (PBUH) is mentioned 25 times in the Quran, and that Mary, mentioned in the Quran 32 times, is the only woman mentioned by name in the religious text.

The group, which works to educate the public about misconceptions people have about Islam, also operates the phone number seen on the billboard from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to answer questions about Islam.

Previously, the group put up billboards with other messages across the country explaining the similarities between Islam and Christianity.

Another billboard depicted Mary wearing a hijab with the slogan, “Blessed Mary wore the hijab. Will you respect it?”
