As Muslims anticipate `Eid Al-Adha, mosque across the UK are preparing special celebrations to mark the feast which marks the end of hajj.
In Birmingham, the Central Jamia Masjid Aqsa Mosque in Waterloo Road will host ‘Eid in the Park’ on Saturday, July 9.
“This is a very big event and promises to be a great gathering,” Councillor Sohail Khan (Con. Tettehall Regis), who is one of the coordinators, told Birmingham Mail.

“Absolutely anyone is welcome to come along. There will be a lot of dignitaries there and people from all faiths and cultures.
“It’s known as ‘the Big Eid’ and is only the second time we’ve been able to hold it in Wolverhampton. Prayers start at 10am and there will be several speakers afterwards.”
`Eid Al-Adha, or “Feast of Sacrifice”, marks the end of the hajj season and is one of the two most important Islamic celebrations, together with `Eid Al-Fitr.
5000 people are expected at the city’s Peace Park in Dunstall Road on Saturday.
“Free refreshments will be available and the invitation is open to everyone. It would be tremendous to see as many people as possible join us on the day,” Khan said.
Other Plans
In Lancashire, the Nelson charity Fountains of Knowledge is organizing a park event to mark the first day of this year’s `Eid Al-Adha, Lancashire Telegraph reported.
Eid in the Park event will take place at Walverden Park in Brunswick Street where prayer will start at 9am.
Welcoming people of all faiths, the event will include free activities such as bouncy castles and games. There will also be as a barbeque, cakes, and sweets.
Attendants will also be offered free copies of English language Qur’ans and other Islamic literature.
