Muslim Aid, in collaboration with East London Mosque, organized the inaugural Minarets Cup, a charity football tournament to raise funds for Palestine Appeal, bringing together Islamic community leaders and scholars from across the UK.
Imams from London, Blackburn, Bradford, and Batley participated in the 11-a-side match, which saw the Imams All-Stars triumph over Imams United with an 8-3 victory, Essex Magazine reported.

The event, attended by 200 fans, concluded with a closing ceremony where Sheikh Khidr delivered a Nasihah (Islamic advice session) and presented awards.
The tournament successfully raised over £16,000 for Muslim Aid’s Palestine appeal, which provides essential aid to Palestinians in Gaza, including food, water, and medicine.
Farhal Ahmed, Community Fundraising Manager at Muslim Aid, praised the initiative: “It was inspiring to witness imams from across the country come together and participate in this remarkable initiative… This event united communities here in the UK and supported those in need in Gaza. The funds raised will go towards providing life-saving aid.”

The Minarets Cup not only raised vital funds for Gaza but also strengthened unity within the UK’s Islamic community, showcasing the power of collective action.
