CAIRO – For the first time in the history of the Orthodox Christian nation, a leading Greek newspaper has distributed copies of translated holy Qur’an to its readers.
The copies were distributed last Sunday by To Vima newspaper, offering Muslims’ holy book to public for the first time, Daily Sabah reported.
The move comes as part of a series to distribute one holy book every week.
Muslims account for nearly 1.3 percent of Greece’s 10.7 million population.
The number has increased significantly after the flock of huge refugee crowds over the past two years into Europe.
Currently, Greek is home to more than 300,000 Muslims, mostly comprised out of the officially recognized “Muslim minority” of Western Thrace Turks and Pomaks, along with ethnic Albanians.
The Qur’an is a revelation from God, the creator of the worlds, so He is the original author.
There is only one Qur’an which is in Arabic and many translations of the Qur’an in several languages.
There could be multiple translations by different authors in the same language such as English.
The Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the archangel Gabriel who used to make the Prophet memorize the Qur’an and made him revise it every year in the month of Ramadan, the fasting month.
