Austrian wrestler, Wilhelm Ott, has pronounced the shahada (Islamic declaration of faith) while observing social distancing at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a video widely shared on social media, Ott said he embraced Islam after a long thought and research.

He added that the period of isolation caused by the coronavirus provided him a lot of time to read more about Islam. Then after a thorough research, he reached a decision and announced his conversion to Islam.
The famous Austrian wrestler began his career in the world of boxing in 2008, winning 16 of the 33 games he played with top players.
According to media reports, he began to think about the Islamic religion after his participation in Muslim players in the ring.
Over 2,345,476 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have spanned the globe. The pandemic has also killed more than 43 thousand.
In Austria, there are more than 14,681 coronavirus cases, while the country has recorded 443 deaths until today.
