Blackburn Man to Run 10Km Every Day While Fasting for Charity

For those fasting Ramadan, running while abstaining from food and water is a challenge that needs strong spirit and dedication.

For the second year in a row, Faizal Momoniat is seeking to double his 2022 record when he completed 5km runs every day during Ramadan and raised £3,000, Lancashire Telegraph reported.

Pushing his body to new limits, Momoniat is aiming to run 10km a day this year while fasting, doubling his fundraising target to £6,000.

“I did a 5k running challenge last Ramadan whilst fasting and ran for 30 days,” he said.

“I raised over £3,000 at the end of Ramadan to build water wells and hand pumps across Asia, Africa and Middle East.

“This year I will step up my running. I will run 10k (6.2 miles), everyday whilst fasting in Ramadan.”

He added, “I want to raise over £6,000 for the victims of the Turkey-Syria earthquake; I want to provide clean accessible water for the victims of the earthquake.”

“It is not going to be easy but I have kept up my running through the year and hopefully we can raise more.”

The money will be donated to Benefit Mankind to provide clean accessible water to the Turkey-Syria earthquake victims.

In Ramadan, adult Muslims, save the sick and those traveling, abstain from food, drink, smoking and sex between dawn and sunset.

Generosity and charity are generally blessed in Islamic Shari’ah, however, it’s specially blessed during the month of Ramadan.

Multiplies rewards, for one thing, Ramadan is a blessed month where the rewards for all of our good deeds are multiplied.
