Muslim officers, NHS staff, sportsmen, and charity workers are among a long list of 40 Muslims who have been named in King Charles first New Year Honours list, in recognition of their efforts to help their community.
“We congratulate all of those awarded by King Charles for this New Year Honour list,” Zara Mohammed, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), said in a statement.
“It is great to see such excellent contributions to our society recognized, a real testament to the vital work faith communities continue to play in shaping our diverse Britain.”

The theme of public service was prominent in this year’s list, honoring most of the award recipients for their dedication to serving their local communities.
Among those named include Asrar Ul-Haq DL. He was one of the first Asian police officers in Greater Manchester Police and spent his career in policing, building a positive relationship between marginalized communities and law enforcement.
The list also includes Professor Robina Shahnaz Shah honored for services to patient care, Nadra Ahmed for services to social care, and Usman Ali, for services to equality and cohesion in Scotland.
In addition, Abdul Qazi, Imam and founder of the Jamia Islamia Ghousia Trust in Luton, has been honored in the list.

Hijabi Referee
Jawahir Roble, from London, who grew up playing football in war-torn Mogadishu, received an MBE for services to football after becoming the first black, female, Muslim, hijab-wearing referee in the UK.
“I’m feeling very humbled & honored in receiving my MBE in the Kings first New Year Honors list for my services to football and charity work,” said Jawahir on Twitter. “I want to thank everyone who has helped and supported me along the way.”
