Survivors of the March 15 terrorist attack have revisited their grieving moments as they appeared before the court for three days of wrenching victim-impact statements.
The court heard testimony from the victims who survived Brenton Tarrant’s March 15, 2019 attack, as well as the grieving relatives of those who died.
Here are some videos of the heart-breaking testimonies, as the victims and their families recall the horrible crime.
Mirwais Waziri, a Survivor
Mirwais Waziri, a survivor of the Christchurch Mosques attacks, decided not to read his impact statement and instead had another message to the shooter.
“Today, you are called a terrorist. And you proved to the world that I was not, and us as a Muslims, were not terrorists.”
Maysoon Salama, Atta Alayan’s Mother
“My heart breaks millions of times… like feeling the pain of labour again and again.”
Mohammad Atta, Atta Alayan’s Father
“My heart is yearning for the restoration of justice for the victims of this heinous massacre.”
Terrorist Brenton Harrison Tarrant killed 51 Muslim worshippers in March-15 attacks as he targeted Al Noor and Linwood mosques.
Tarrant, 29, now faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. His sentencing will probably take place Thursday at the end of the four-day sentencing hearing.
