A questioner asks will a convert be rewarded for the good deeds they did before accepting Islam? This is a very good question for new Muslims.
We know that when we accept Islam our bad deeds that we committed before are wiped cleaned. What about the good deeds though?
This question was actually asked to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by one of the Companions. He used to do charity and be good to his family before Islam. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) told him that he accepted Islam along with all the good deeds that you have done with you. This hadith is sahih Muslim.
Scholars have derived that from this hadith the convert has a double blessing. The first blessing is that his sins are all wiped clean. His second blessing is that the good deeds that he has done before Islam will be rewarded.
