Praying five times a day seems a lot when you first become a Muslim especially if you never prayed or only prayed when you needed something. However, these five times a day are perfect times to connect with Allah and ask him for anything you want. 

If you are trying to fulfill your purpose by getting close to Allah then you will at least try your best to pray those five times a day. 

We know that the prayers are over the course of the whole day in Islam. Allah has told us that they are at the decreed times. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) asked a Companion if you washed in the river five times a day, would there be any dirt on you? 

There is a time span in the prayers. We must try to pray within that time span before the next prayer.
