Signs that We Have Been Forgiven

Here Mufti Menk highlights the endless mercy of Allah. In Surah Az Zumar Allah (swt) addresses the sinful people as “oh my worshipers”. He could have called them His enemies or the cursed ones but Allah says “Ya Ibadi, oh my worshipers”.

Allah (swt) wants us to know He will forgive us no matter what we have done for He is the most forgiving, the most merciful.

In times of illness and ageing Allah (swt) gives us a chance to turn back to Him. It is a reminder from Allah subhanAllah! When your good deeds make you pleased and your bad deeds make you sad this is a very good sign. When we do these two things it is a great sign that Allah (swt) has given us the wisdom to seek his forgiveness properly – istigfar and tawbah.

Istagfar is seeking forgiveness for the sins you have committed in the past and tawbah is pledging to Allah not to commit these again.
