What are the guest’s rights in Islam? These rights are clearly explained in the hadith by Muslim and Bukhari.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “he who believes in Allah and the last day should accommodate his guests according to his right.” He was asked what is his right? So the Prophet said: “It is to accommodate him for a day and a night and hospitality extends for three days. What is beyond that is charity.”
What can we learn from this hadith? A guest should be given the best entertainment on the first day and the first night. For the next two days, hospitality should be moderate. On the fourth day the guest should leave for his destination. If the guest chooses to stay, hospitality will be in the sense of charity.
