What is stunning about Islam is it’s balance. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had a balance in his life. If the Companions couldn’t find Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) they would look first in the mosque then the graveyard and then the market place.

Even though Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to visit the graveyard and reflect on death, as we are told to do, he was not a depressed individual and was not used to sulk. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was not used to treat his family like he did not care about this world. He was able to find the balance as did his Companions.

They were able to shun materialism but they were still as alive as anyone could imagine. They still enjoyed this world without becoming heedless of their ultimate destination and their ultimate purpose.
