Who are your best friends?
Good friends are a great blessing.
There are two types of special friends mentioned in the Qur’an: Khaleel and Rafeeq.
Brother Nouman Ali Khan explains these two types of friendships, starting with the example of Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him, who was known as Allah’s Khaleel (close friend).
In today’s world, we make friends with people who have similar interests.
If you are really into something for the sake of Allah, like working with a charitable project, you will start making friends who share your same concerns. These will be the strongest friends you will have, as they are friendships formed under the shade of Allah. So try to form friends in mutual positive activities.
The second word for friend explained in this video is Rafeeq, who is a friend when you are stressed out or in trouble having a hard time, going to them is like comfort. With this type of friend you are informal, you don’t need to act in a certain way, as you are relaxed in their presence and you can just be yourself.
A true friend, who is your friend for your sake, not to get any kind of benefit from you. The one who never gives up on you when you start making mistakes.
They remain in touch with you even if you establish a distance with them because of their honesty. They continuously feel pain for you. They support you at every moment (for the good).
Sometimes when people make a u-turn in life and start going back to the Path of God, they may lose friends and even sometimes are boycotted by some family members. If you are in this situation don’t be sad. Allah (SWT) will compensate you and will put good people in your path.
So trust in Allah, and seek good friends who remind you of Allah, and support you on His Straight Path.
