It goes without saying that as a whole, we want our community to continue to grow and flourish.

Yet individually, we are not obliged to procreate. Some may prefer not to have children while some may not be able to conceive.

Normally, sexual intimacy may lead to procreation but there is absolutely nothing in the Quran or early Islamic texts to say that couples cannot enjoy sex purely for the sake of pleasure.
