Me and my husband recently got into it because my mother in law called my phone to tell me that one of my husband’s siblings would be staying with us for a few days.. that rubbed me the wrong way because she doesn’t live there so how can she tell me who’s coming over our home ? But I had asked him why he didn’t tell me and he told me he doesn’t have to tell me anything he pays all the bills and that’s his sister .. why am I opposed to his sister coming over ? Because the last time she came over she didn’t want to help clean up , and she was extremely aggressive with our child and I didn’t like that I also told him that . plus he doesn’t like for my little sisters to come over so I respect his decision because it is his home too we got into a heated argument and he shouted divorce at me and told me to leave .. so my question is does he not have to inform me when someone is coming over even if it is his siblings?

I think both of you need to sort such things out amicably if you want to continue the marriage. Marriage is all about mutual respect and trust. Communication is essential for developing mutual trust.

Your mother in law was not wrong in telling you that her daughter- your husband’s sister – would be coming over and staying with you for a few days.

Even a good friend could make such requests; so how could you say that his mother does not have the same right. Put yourself in her shoes; what would you think if you were in her place and your daughter in life took objection to that.

Having said this, your husband is also wrong in telling you that he does not need to inform you of his sister’s visit.

It seems you have been at the throats of each other by not communicating.

If you have had a problem with your sister-in-law’s behavior in the past, you should have discussed the issue with your husband and he should be the one to resolve the issue. He should tell his sister to act responsibly.

You may do well to see a marriage counselor to sort our marriage problems.

Assalamu Alaikum, I want to ask whether it is justifiable for a Muslim to take a kafir to court in a non-Muslim country if he/she (kafir) treated the Muslim with injustice for example if the kafir landlord evicted a Muslim tenant because he (Muslim) refused to let a dog in the house to carry out a bedbug inspection. If so, is it permissible to sue for punitive damages, emotional desterss, physical damages, loss of govenment benefits and future expenses like rent/utilities the tenant would pay at another residence for the comming years?

You should have allowed the dog in to carry out the inspection. Dogs in Islam can be trained to catch games, to perform works such as detection and inspection, and other vital services.

Allah tells us in the Qur’an:

They will ask you as to what is lawful to them. Say: “Lawful to you are all the good things of life.” And as for those hunting animals  (including trained dogs: see the note below) which you train by imparting to them something of the knowledge that God has imparted to yourselves-eat of what they seize for you, but mention God’s name over it. and remain conscious of God: verily, God is swift in reckoning.

Note:

Lit., “such of the trained beasts of chase” (min al-jawarih mukallibin). The term mukallib signifies “trained like a [hunting) dog”, and is applied to every animal used for hunting -a hound, a falcon, a cheetah, etc.(Quran Ref: 5:4)

Therefore, you were wrong in not letting the dog do the work of inspection.

Even if the dog was not trained to do so, letting the dog entering the house in itself is not to be deemed to render your apartment filthy. How can assume this when we have reports from the Prophet’s companions that dogs would enter Prophet’s mosque through one door and exit through the other and yet the Prophet did not carry out any cleansing rituals.

In light of these, you have no right to sue the landlord for you were the one who was wrong in not allowing the dog in.

So I don’t think you will go anywhere with your unreasonable demands which you cannot even justify Islamically.

Hello I want to ask that Allah loves those who are patient and they will be forgiven and given other perks on judgement day but my question is I committed a sin against my neighbor it was like this I live in a country where there is scarce internet access. One day discovered a WiFi network but I didn't know who it belonged to and I did not have the password. But one day I switched on the laptop and discovered it had connected. So I used it until I stopped because of fear that I might be stealing. But I had used it for quiet some time but I didn't play YouTube videos on it and I tried to read Islamic text over the network. But from their on I have stopped. I want to ask will Allah still forgive me on judgement day I regret it . It disturbs my conscious . will Allah forgive me and if he does won't that be unfair to the one whose data I used?

What you did was wrong and you felt remorse over your action. That is a good sign. You need to repent and ask the forgiveness of Allah. Sincere repentance entails three steps: feeling deep remorse over your sin; refraining from it immediately and resolving not to do the same.

If you can afford to, you may give some charity to the poor to expiate for the same.  Once you do this, you can hope for the mercy of Allah.

In answering this question, I cannot do any better than citing from one of my earlier answer on a similar question:

“Salah is the most important pillar of Islam. It is in fact the first religious duty prescribed on every single prophet from Adam to Muhammad, second only to testifying the Oneness of Allah. Allah says, “Salah, indeed, is a duty enjoined upon the faithful at the appointed times.” (An-Nisa’: 103). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) further narrates in a hadith Qudsi: Allah said: “The covenant between Us and them is Salah; so whoever establishes it establishes religion; whoever undermines it undermines religion.”

It is therefore important that we never become slack in performing salah; if we miss any salah for whatever reason, we must pray it immediately without further delay. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever oversleeps and misses his prayer or forgets to do it, let him pray as soon as he remembers it.”

In light of these and other evidence, the vast majority of scholars and imams are of the opinion that one must make up for all of the prayers one has missed in life, no matter how many they are. So according to them, you should make up for all of these prayers. One of the best ways to do this—as has been suggested by one scholar—is to pray with each fard that you perform another fard in lieu of what you missed in the past. Thus, for instance, before or after praying Zuhr, pray another four rak`ahs of Zuhr as qadha’, and pray another four rak`ahs of `Asr every time you pray `Asr; you should continue to do this until such time that you can be pretty sure that you have made up for all of the missed prayers.

However, the above view has been rejected by scholars such as Imam Ibn Taymiyah, Shawkani, and Ibn Hazm. They are of the view that a person who has deliberately missed his prayers can never make up for them. Therefore, the only option left for him is to repent, ask forgiveness of Allah, and do lots of good works; by doing so he can hope to receive Allah’s mercy.

Ibn Taymiyyah, while advancing this point of view, further states: “To insist that a person who has strayed away from Islam for a number of years and then returns to the fold of Islam must make qadha’ of all his missed prayers serves only as a deterrent against his repentance, and thus it amounts to limiting the infinite mercy of Allah.” He, therefore, dismisses this view and rules that it is sufficient for him to repent, make lots of istighfar (asking forgiveness) and good works.

Having said this, I must add that you must never be slack again in your prayers.

May Allah shower us all with His mercy and help us to remain steadfast in His religion. Ameen.”

The graphic design profession is not different from professions such as computer programming, media, and so on.

It is how we use them will make them halal or haram; if used for a good purpose that is sanctioned by Allah they are halal; if however, one were to use them for promoting vice and corruption, then that would be wrong.

So, you should ask how you are going to use the skill. If you can assure yourself you will only use it for promoting virtue, then you should go for it.

I would urge you to pray: “O Allah, guide us to the straight path, and guide others through us, and make us instruments of guidance.”

Asalam aalaykom, I work for a hair salon as his content creator and therefore I have to post pictures of the hairstyles they do daily of their customers. I am in need of this job since my family's financial status isn't really good as I have to save money for college and so this supports my family and future. I do not like or encourage the hair pictures Im posting but I am forced to because this is what my boss wants. Knowing that if I quit I will not help provide for my family anymore neither provide for my college

There is nothing wrong in posting the hair pictures so long as it is intended to show people the different hairstyles. I understand that the pictures are not associated with nudity.

Posting hair pictures is not different from people posting ads with pictures to promote merchandise and services.

No reputable scholar would rule them as being un-Islamic or forbidden.

Assalamu'alaykumSome of my clothing get impurity on them so i put it on the corner of the toilet for me to wash later. And then, when i relieving and bathing, some water flow to thise impure clothes and flow to the entire toilet. The water that flow from those impure clothes doesn't have any sign of impurity (color, smell) on them as far as i know and immediately flow and go to the drain (though it's flow through the whole toilet first)What i'm about to ask is, is my toilet floor become impure? And if i stepped on it (it's toilet floor so it's wet) does my feet become impure? Does the impurity spread everywhere from my feet? Thanks for the answer

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Halal is clear and Haram is clear and there are cases that are doubtful. Whoever shuns the doubtful, he will avoid falling into Haram; whoever does that which is doubtful may end up falling into the Haram.” (At-Tirmidhi)

So, I would advise you to stop this practice of putting the clothes with impurity somewhere else to put an end to such speculations or whisperings. This is the best way to stop Satan playing with your mind.

As for what has happened in the past, you should ask forgiveness of Allah and resolve never to repeat the same.

I'm having an issue of unerstanding regarding image making, because my Christian mother told me, "as long as God granted us talents in art and music, this means that He is agreed and He has Allowed us to draw anf listen to music. But if He really was disagreed with music and art, then today there would not exist such thing as art and music", and I told her that what we think does not matter and she still thinks that it is foolish thing to claim that drawing animated images and listening to songs is silly. And she disccused this with my Muslim father, and he shared with me a link to show me a video of Muslims who plays musical instruments and sings at the time of Prophet when they heard that the message is completed, and he told me that I can listen to Rock, Rock and Roll and Electronic as long as it sends peaceful and good message.I wonder, what my parents told me are 100% correct? Does Quran supports and agree with them? If yes, can you please provide me some interpretentions from the Prophet about this matter? Because, I really love drawing any thing, I like even to make a complete snowman, because I like to be creative and constructive in art and construc2658/ion.I was planning to draw goddess Athen, just only to draw, but to worship this image? No freaking way.Is there a Dua which I can ask God To help me improve my talent on drawing and also To help me develope my creativity and also To help me to have unique ideas? Because, I want after I graduate high school to assign to college of art, so that I can have a career. Because, I want to make money out of drawing things. And my mother told me: "if God sees you that you're not using this talent of art, then He will definitely lift this talent from you, because it is easy for Him To do". When I heard this, I got scared because I dont want my talent to be lifted, I want to have time to develope it. Is my mother right about what she told me?Is that true that music is one of the best creation of God?

Your mother is simply expressing her opinion based on her understanding. However, I doubt whether such an opinion in regards to drawing gods and goddesses conforms to the original teachings of the scriptures (Old Testament and New Testament). The first and second commandments clearly establish the rule on such matters.

You don’t need to give up your talents for drawing and music. You are wrong in limiting our options; you should explore avenues other than pagan themes or messages.

Likewise, not all forms of music are considered sinful or undesirable. It all depends on the use and the message or outcome; if it is used to promote ethical or spiritual values and themes, then it could be rewarding.

You may look at the example of Yusuf Islam, who is using his musical talent today for promoting virtue and peace in the world.

So, while respecting your mother you should assure her that you would like to develop your talents creatively and positively.

Hi I just wanted to ask question regarding of salahI was praying asr prayer and during my second rakah I forgot to do tashhahud as I stand up for the third rakah before reciting fatihah I remember so I went down and did tashhahud and continued to pray I did prostration of forgetfulness before Salam also after because I am not sure but did it both is my prayed valid ?

If you did stand up before sitting for Tashahhud after the 2nd Rakah, you could have completed the prayer and offered the prostration of forgetfulness. There was no need for you to go down and do the tashahhud.

You need only to return if you remembered before standing erect.

The purpose of sujud al-ssahw is to compensate for the sitting you missed.

Your prayer is still valid even if you forgot sujud al-sshaw in such case for sitting after the 2nd Rakah is not one of the integrals of salah; integrals of salah are those acts if you miss them you ought to repeat the salah.

Almighty Allah knows best.

Selam Alejkum, my question is that, i know that you need always to prayers, and you cant delay them, its only forgiven if you forgot or you sleept, but what if someone is living in a cold country, where it is snow and all that and its could outside, and then he goes out and, gets lost outside at the snow, and he is trying to find out where he lives again, does this person have to do salah while he is searching for his home?, beacuse it is very cold and its almost impossible? this things have happend so its not uncumon.

Observing five daily prayers is an obligatory duty of every Muslim. The fact you are living in a cold country is not an excuse to neglect it.

You should know that there are millions of Muslims living in cold countries and they continue to establish prayer.

However, if you find yourself in a situation where you cannot pray outside in the extreme cold and being outside, you can make the intention of combing two prayers by praying them together: you can pray Zhuhr and Asr at the time of either Zhuhr or Asr. But you should not delay them until Maghrib. Likewise,  if you are in the same situation, you can also combine Maghrib and Isha. You may offer them at the time of Maghrib or Isha one after the other.

At no time, you should skip the prayer altogether.

The waiting period of a divorcee in Islam is three months (or three menstrual cycles) after divorce. However, if you were separated legally before the actual issuance of a divorce, then there is no need for you to undergo iddah.

If however there was no such separation, then you should undergo iddah. The purpose of iddah, in this case, is to allow him to take you back in case he changes his mind.

I see no objection for him in lighting his father’s funeral pyre if required by the custom. It is the Hindu custom to cremate the dead; so he is only taking part in the funeral by doing it. However,  he should never associate it with an Islamic ritual.

Lighting the funeral fire is not the same as idol worship, which he cannot do as a Muslim.

There is no need for changing the bed sheet if a woman’s menses stops and she takes a bath.

One needs to change the sheet only if soiled.

There is also no need for the husband to take a bath after sharing the bed with her (while she was menstruating). The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to share the bed with his beloved wife Aishah and yet he never bathed because of that. Nor did he ask Aishah to wash or change the bed sheets she was sleeping.  She performed ghusl and nothing else.

It is not good for us to be rigid on such matters. Let us remind ourselves of the words of the Prophet (peace be upon him): “This religion of ours is easy to follow; whoever makes it hard will only destroy himself.” (Al-Bukhari)

The Prophet (peace be upon him) has recommended bathing on Fridays. Friday is the biggest weekly assembly, is like an Eid for us. Therefore, we should appear clean, neat and tidy.

Thus, the Prophet (peace be upon him) has told us not to offend people with offensive odors or smells. Therefore, it is always a good practice to take a bath while appearing in congregations–to get rid of offensive body odors.

Having said this, let me also remind you one should never forget the ritual bathing when they become obligatory: in case of sexual intercourse, experiencing wet dreams, or seminal emissions, or for men when at the expiry of menses or post-natal bleeding.

Hello am a Muslim but previously I was a christian I want to ask in jannah every desire their is fulfilled but am asking Allah created us to worship him but in only in this short life of between 50-70 years. So is Allah offering us millions of years of just enjoying in exchange for just worshipping won't that mean that our over all purpose would be to enjoy in paradise ? And the other question is I personally like things like PlayStation and games like uncharted fallout but I read they are forbidden because they take away time that would have been used to remember Allah and are not educational like puzzle games but can I get them in jannah all the games I wanted in this world. And it is said whatever a person wants in jannah he will get but what if he wants something that is haraam like being a homo would he still be able to get it and if he doesn't won't that mean that he not getting it contradicts the statement whatever the heart desires?

Instead of occupying your mind with such issues, you may do well to focus on getting to Jannah rather than worrying about such matters.

Matters of heaven and hell are beyond human speculation. We cannot know anything about such matters except through revelation. What we learn from the revealed sources is that heaven is where we experience such bliss the like of which no mind could ever conceive and no ears could hear about and no eyes could ever see or behold.

As believers, we ought to humble ourselves and stop probing such issues using our reason which cannot fathom such realities.

You should comfort yourself in knowing once you get to heaven you will have no reason to feel any deprivation or deficiency.

I pray to Allah to forgive us and grace us with His mercy and paradise.

Asslam.o.Alikum I did paper marriage like a contract to get visa extension on which I just did a signature. This was just like an assignment. On the basis of that signature, I get the visa extension. I do not have any relationship with my contract marriage person. Even we are in different states. This was just a plan signature on a paper. Moreover, the person is not Muslim so the signature was only a paper. Nothing occurs according to Islamic marriage. Now if i do proper Nikkha with a someone Muslim man. And spend proper Islamic marriage life. After Completing my current paper marriage duration. I submit divorce. and register my Nikkha in immigration. My question is in all this process marriage life (Nikkha) legal? Because I will do nikkha as per Islamic rules but not register, it will be considered marriage in family etc but not government record.Best regards

There is only one type of marriage in Islam- a marriage contracted to forge a permanent union. Islam has forbidden temporary marriages and conditional marriages.

A Muslim is a person whose words and actions are consistent. Allah says: “O you who believe, why do you say one thing and do another? Most loathsome is it in the sight of Allah that you say what you do not do!” (As-Saff: 63:2-3)

In conclusion; to contract a marriage on paper just to get immigration is cheating. It is playing with the law of Allah.
