We are allowed to commemorate the Prophet’s birthday as long as we stay clear of innovations that are forbidden in Islam.

Organizing Quranic recitations, nasheeds and speech competitions and feeding the people to express our joy for the occasion is not an innovation – as ruled by the vast majority of scholars of the past and the present.
