Wa alaykum assalam warahmtullah wabarakatuh
In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Mercy-Giving.
All praise is due to Allah. Peace and blessings be upon His Prophet Muhammad.
English, like any other language, is a means to communicate with and understand others. A Muslim may learn any language to acquire more knowledge and benefit himself as well as his community.
But Arabic is strongly recommended for non-Arab Muslims to learn. In fact, it is necessary to learn such an amount of Arabic that helps Muslim perform the rituals of worship in a valid way. Arabic is the language of the Quran and the Sunnah and learning it is necessary for proper understanding of their texts and for studying the legacy of Muslim scholars which they authored in the service of their religion and its sacred texts.
Almighty Allah knows best.
